Is that the Death Star? No, it’s the Great American Solar Eclipse!
On August 21, 2017, the students of Earth to Sky Calculus launched 11 space weather balloons from the path of totality as the Moon covered the sun overhead. This high-resolution photo shows the Moon’s inky-black shadow racing across the Wyoming landscape. It was taken by a Panasonic GH4 digital camera floating 107,000 feet above Earth’s surface.
